Chess Camp

Tyler participated in summer chess camp this year at the St. George Chess Center. I don't understand the game but he loves it. He is getting pretty good at it too!Tyler thinking of his next move

The chess center has lots of different chess sets from other countries. Tyler thought that it was pretty neat.

No more TV

Our landlord came over last week and told us that he wanted to get his TV back because his wife wanted another one in their house. We only had it because its a huge TV and its in a built in shelf that it fits perfectly in. Anyway, we take back the TV and there is really no where to put a flat screen so we have no TV in the familyroom. The only place we have a TV now with satellite is in our bedroom. Can I just say it has been great not having one. Our house has been way more quiet and calmer then normal. The kids come home and instead of sitting in front of the TV watching disney channel are playing with toys and doing homework. Tyler has also pulled out his scout book and been working on getting his bear. But I think the best part without the TV is we are spending more time as a family. We have been talking more, playing games together and reading. I didn't realize how much we watched that thing. I am glad that I still have satellite in our bedroom to watch the news though.

The kids started school last week and are loving it. Me and Avrie have been just hanging out. Avrie starts preschool in another couple of weeks. It's nice to get the kids back into a routine. Amazingly they have been getting to bed around 9:00.
A few weeks ago I was called into the primary presidency as the 1st counselor. It has been pretty stressful because I'm in charge of the primary program thats in October and all the primary activities. We have one activity in September and one in October. Sharingtime kind of freaks me out too. Oh well.
We are still trying to find a house to buy. The house that I posted a few posts back fell through. The bank is working with the people so they can keep their house. Thats good for them but not for us. I loved everything about that house but I guess thats not where we need to be. I have looked at a million houses in the last couple of months but havent really come across anything. The picture of the house on the top is a house that me and Brad really like. We are thinking of maybe building it on a lot thats a few blocks from where we live now. I am hoping that we figure out what we are going to do soon because I am not liking this unsettled feeling. I guess only time will tell.

Happy Birthday to Brad and the emergency room

Brad's birthday was yesterday. He turned the big 34! We had a fun get together with family.
His sister Brenda made him a good carrot cake.

This happened later that night

Kyle had just finished taking a shower when he opened the glass door and it shattered all over him. He had glass all over his body.

So at 10:00 that night we took him to the emergency room to get stitches.

The emergency room has been Kyles new hang out lately. We are glad he is OK.

Brads parents were in the parade with their car and so was Kyle and Avrie

We went to Beaver for the 24th of July and stayed with parents . We had lots of fun with the whole family. We stayed up late and talked, went to the big parade, made homemade ice-cream and watched the fireworks and such. Some of us even ran the 5k (me, Brad, Katelyn, Jen, Mandi and Tamron).
